Rangehead, Isle of South Uist — New Test & Evaluation Facility
The purpose of these works was to provide new facilities and infrastructure enabling the Rangehead site, Isle of South Uist, to carry out large-scale test and evaluation activities.
The Employer required a high-quality facility with a minimum 25-year lifespan, providing safe and suitable accommodation to sustain an effective trial, test, and evaluation capability, while meeting the needs of MoD stakeholders.
The works involved:
- Provision of a concrete hardstanding on a greenfield site
- Design and build of a RUBB environmental shelter
- Provision of blast walls
- Provision of an upgraded electricity supply to the new shelter
- Provision of comms and data ducting to the new shelter
- Alterations to the site road to accommodate the new facility
- Upgrade of the electrical substation to ensure sufficient capacity
