MacInnes Bros Ltd were employed by island residents to carry out the build of a new dwelling house on the remote and exposed location of Berneray. The house specifications was a 3 Bedroom home with an open plan downstairs and enhanced glazing vital to incorporate the stunning scenery into the home. The scope of works included the construction of a new access road, the excavating of foundations, erecting the kit of the house, blockwork, all internal installation of plumbing and electrical and external landscaping.
MIB worked closely with the client in order to achieve the exact vision of the final build that they desired. Due to the client being based on the Scottish mainland, the Project Managment was entrusted to MIB. This meant that regular communication and meetings, when possible with the client, was vital in successful completion of the new build. This open approach is essential, not only during the project but on the lead-up to construction commencing and it plays a huge role in the MIB Homes delivery quality assurance.
Working closely with our Client also allowed the opportunity for MacInnes Bros Ltd to have an input on the most cost effective products and materials to use, which proved successful. We suggested an alternative radiator system and roof slate, both of which would result in lower maintenance costs for the residents which was greatly appreciated by our Client.
This project was completed successfully, within budget and on time.
